January seems to be month of Weegee (nee Arthur Fellig, June 12, 1899 – December 26, 1968) here in New York, with two exhibitions of the fabled photog's work running concurrently, for the next few weeks, at least.
The Steven Kasher Gallery, at 521 West 23rd Street, currently features the exhibition "Weegee Naked City," scheduled to show from January 12 to February 25, 2012.
Meanwhile, at the International Center of Photography, at 1163 Avenue of the Americas, another show
"Weegee: Murder is My Business," just opened last week. It runs through September 2, 2012.
Each exhibition is extensive and unique. Fans of the original and possibly still the greatest photographer of New York's lost, hard-boiled, nocturnal life ought to enjoy them both.
